Preparing Tomorrow, Today!

 

The challenges confronting our society today are not merely headlines in newspapers or conversations on social media. They are realities that touch our homes, schools, communities, institutions, and, most importantly, the future of our young people.

As we look around, we cannot ignore the growing concerns surrounding moral decadence, irresponsibility, sexual exploitation, drug abuse, addiction, environmental neglect, and other practices that threaten the values upon which our society has been built.

The question is no longer “What is happening to our country?” The more important question is: “What are we going to do about it?”

It is against this backdrop that EQUIP Ghana, in collaboration with AmaCares, the All African Students’ Union (AASU), and the Frimpong Manso Institute (FMI), is convening an important press conference under the theme:

NEXT GEN CAMPAIGN – “Preparing Tomorrow, Today!”

The campaign is more than a conversation. It is a call to responsibility, action, and transformation.

The press conference will bring together voices from leadership, civil society, education, youth development, and advocacy to examine some of the pressing issues confronting Ghana, particularly their impact on the younger generation.

Among the key areas of discussion will be moral decadence and irresponsibility; sexual exploitation and the rise in STIs; drug abuse and addiction; and environmental irresponsibility, including littering and the devastating consequences of illegal mining.

These issues are interconnected. When moral responsibility declines, communities suffer. When young people become vulnerable to exploitation and substance abuse, families and the nation bear the consequences. When we neglect our environment, we create conditions that contribute to flooding, disease outbreaks, and the destruction of our natural resources.

But this conversation will not end with only identifying problems.

A major focus of the campaign will be the introduction of practical interventions designed to help address these challenges and empower the next generation to make better choices.

Among the distinguished speakers will be Rev. (Mrs.) Angela Carmen Appiah, CEO of the Africa Corporate Governance Network (ACGN) and Executive Promoter of EQUIP-GH, who will speak on drug abuse and its impact on mental health.

A representative from FMI will address environmental irresponsibility, including galamsey and littering, and their connection to flooding and disease outbreaks. A representative from AmaCares will examine child abuse and sexual exploitation and their contribution to rising STIs.

Amb. Bernard Quarm, Country Director of EQUIP-GH, will highlight practical interventions through iLead and Beyond Success, initiatives focused on equipping young people with the mindset, leadership capacity, and life skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex world.

This is a conversation Ghana cannot afford to ignore.

Do not remain a spectator. The future of Ghana belongs to all of us.
