WHY DID THE LORD WEEP AT THE TOMB OF LAZARUS?
John 11:35-38
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! 37 And some of them said, Could
not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this
man should not have died? 38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh
to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
Ever wondered
why the Son of glory could weep over the
death of a mere mortal? Jesus is moved by our situations, that is why He lives
forever to make intercessions for us. During the days of Jesus Christ many
people were following Him for different reason. Very few believed in Him
regardless of the mind-blowing miracles, healings and testimonies. The
indoctrinations and misunderstanding taught by the Pharisees, Sadducees and
other scribes blinded most people of their redemptive moment with Jesus Christ.
Lazarus and his
siblings were among those loved and believe in Jesus Christ and always accepted
Him in their home. They were privileged to have Jesus Christ dine with them.
The siblings had a mutual relationship with Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
spent time teaching them the word of God and we can recall when He rebuked
Martha for entangling with unnecessary
things and come listen to Him.
Jesus Christ
taught them about His saving power and that He is the resurrection and the
life.
Why did Jesus
Christ Weep?
Lazarus was a
close pal of Jesus Christ, therefore we can tell of many impartations, tutelages and fellowship he had
Jesus Christ.
When death was
near him (Lazarus), why didn’t he (Lazarus) build up his faith against the
spirit of death?
Why didn’t Lazarus
call forth the name of Jesus Christ to destroy the power of death over
him so as to make Jesus Christ proud even in His absence?
Why did Lazarus
allow death to swallow him up untimely?
Why didn’t his
siblings pray for him and lay hands on him?
Why didn’t his
siblings build up their faith on what Jesus Christ have always taught them to
destroy the works of the devil?
Jesus Christ
wept, not because he could not do anything about it.
He did not weep
because he was compassionate and that he could feel their pain and loss.
He wept because
of their ignorance in not appropriating what He(Jesus Christ) has been teaching
them to override the attacks of Satan in whatever means.
Jesus Christ
wept because He taught them that he is
the resurrection and the life, yet they fail to acknowledge it and had little
faith.
Jesus Christ
wept because the fail to appropriate His name when death was near Lazarus.
Jesus Christ has
given us all things that pertains to life and Godliness through His Divine power and His word.
Let us make use
of His name and break all shackles around us.
May His name break every mountain in your life
and may you journey into your promise land and fulfil what God has spoken about
you before you were formed in your
mama’s womb.
Jesus
is Lord
